The heat and humidity was worth putting up with on Lake Guntersville this past week because the bass were biting. The lake is seeing little pressure right now due to the summer heat, so it makes moving around and fishing specific spots easier than other times of the year.
My clients and I are targeting main river ledge drops in 12 to 20 feet while keying in on specific hard bottom areas. The most productive techniques for us have been dragging a 3/4 oz 4×4 Football Jig and a 3/4 oz Picasso Shake E Football head rigged with big Senkos and plastics along the bottom. 3/4 oz swimbaits also produced, especially when making consistent bottom contact.
With the hot weather and water temperature reaching the low 90’s the lakes vegetation is growing rapidly and starting to reach the surface in some areas of the lake, especially near the banks. I’m looking forward to the frog fishing that’s on its way.
I still have dates available in August and September if you’d like to schedule a trip on Gville or Smith Lake. Please contact me for current availability.
