Bass Angler Headquarters (BHQ) would like to welcome Danny Barker to our content staff!
He is a NorCal guy who went Bass Fishing in Florida and never came back! Now he’s chomping the big ones in North Central Florida. Danny is Trophy Bass Hunter, Writer/Blogger/Field Editor and looks forward to his contribution.
Let me introduce myself, I’m a Calif. transplant living in Citrus Springs, FL. I’ve lived here for the last 10 years. My hometown of Sacramento/ Folsom, Ca is where I spent 40 years raising a family and working as a CNC Programmer/Machinist. I loved NorCal some of the best bass fishing in the country with the Delta, Clear Lake, Folsom and tons of other outstanding water.
It wasn’t long before I started fishing monthly tournaments with West Coast Bass Future Pro’s a Northern California tour ran by Kent Brown, along with a regional-level team circuit. I had a great time, but I liked catching big fish and the tournaments were geared to catching 5 average fish. Sure, I learned a lot about bass fishing, but I wanted to focus on catching big bass. So after some thought, I quit tournaments altogether and began my pursuit of trophy bass fishing.
Then I found a bass club that targeted trophy fish. The founder Todd “Toad “Crockett vowed to solve the great mysteries of catching trophy-sized fish with family, friends, catch-and-release the goal. The NorCal Trophy Hunters Bass Club was formed with the help of Dean Sault a charter member both Todd and Dean were Yamamoto inside Line Pro-Staffer/writers at the time. Now I belong to a really cool club on Facebook called the Unemployed Fishing Club at https://www.facebook.com/groups/UFishClub/ , a great bunch of fishermen and as our leader Mark “Caveman” Avery from “UHearMe” http://uhearme.com/ states “you don’t have to be unemployed to join but it helps lol.I’ve also written some pieces for Mike Long Outdoors, Yamamoto Inside Line, Fish Explorer.com and ODU Magazine. I’m looking forward to doing some feature articles, product reviews, covering the bass scene coast to coast and tips from the everyday anglers point of view for Bass Anglers Headquarters http://bassanglerhq.com/ .
I enjoy chatting on FaceBook with my fishing friends around the states and the world….look me up If you’re holding a fish you’re in https://www.facebook.com/danny.barker.90 !! Some of the places I fish now are the famous Stick Marsh, Ocklawaha River, Rodman, Withlacoochee River, Lake Russo, Rainbow River, Orange Lake and the Ocala Forest Lakes all provide some great opportunities for catching the big bass. BTW all of these waters are within a 30-mile radius of my house which makes for a very affordable trip!! This is a small snapshot of what I’m into,. Stay tuned.
