Creating Dynamic Resume for the Professional Bass Angler

Let’s briefly talk about the importance of having a dynamic resume. With so much competition in the world of tournament bass fishing, a plain old resume on some fancy paper with boring text will not suffice. You only have a short moment to catch the attention of a potential sponsor so you’ll want your resume to look unique and build excitement around YOU. With the help of a good graphic designer your resume can include color backgrounds, banners, logos, pictures, and the list goes on. You don’t want to overdo it but you get the point.
You definitely want to include things like your fishing history, industry experience, college degrees or certifications, marketing or sales experience, media contacts, press history and anything else that is of relevance to the position. Your resume should include some well thought out photos highlighting you at tournaments wearing a jersey, working at trade shows, giving seminars, and any other pictures that project your professionalism.
How much information to include is not an exact science. Listing employment history and education is a given. Including tournament and fishing experience is a little tougher. I recommend including the last two years of an angler’s career in detail but after that, only list highlights (top 10 finishes and circuits fished). References to all media coverage (print or video) are a must, especially if it demonstrates your current dealer and sponsor relationships, which should be presented in your resume as well.
