Ca Delta Fishing Report – April 29th
Category : BASS FISHING REPORTS
Fished the Ca Delta with my brother Stephen today from 9-4p launching out of B&W Resort. We were out pre-fishing for the upcoming Yamamoto Big Bait Challenge being held this weekend out of Russo’s Marina in Oakley, Ca. We fished the high outgoing to the beginning of the low incoming tides. Water temps ranged from 65-69 degrees with air temps warming up to 88 degrees. Wind speeds increased throughout the day reaching 15mph and remained there for most of the afternoon. Water visibility out there was terrible at about 1ft. I am not sure what is going on out on the river but sight fishing was impossible and everywhere we went the water color was the same; last week the visibility was 2-3ft. We spent the majority of the day throwing reaction baits and soft plastics made by Yamamoto and Kinami since the tournament this weekend is limited to baits made by the two companies. I wont’ tell you which baits just yet….you will have to wait for the post tournament report. We fished a little bit of everything including spawning flats, windblown banks and tullie islands. After a slow morning bite, we ended up catching some nice fish in the afternoon and our best five went 18.5lbs. We didn’t catch any giants and our big fish weighed in just under 5lbs. I expect the bite to get better as the week progesses. Air temps are expected to reach the mid 90’s this weekend and there is a new wave of spawners hitting the shallows. Keep searching for the pods of fish coming up and once you find them, pick em’ apart!
