Cal Delta Fishing Report – Sept 2012

On Friday Sept. 21st, Professional Bass Angler Aaron LeSieur and Steve Adams of Bass Angler Headquarters headed out to the Ca Delta to put in a days “work” 🙂 BHQ was out to do a photo/video shoot and help Aaron produce his upcoming CA Delta River2Sea Whopper Plopper video.  We launched out of King Island at 7am fishing the incoming high to high outgoing tides with about a 2.5ft swing on both ends.  Air temps topped out around 85 degrees with water temps right at 70 degrees.  We focused my efforts in areas in which we knew the Whopper Plopper performed the best, large flats adjacent to deep water with sparse hydrilla and current.  We fished quickly hitting about 6-8 different areas without a lot of success.  We ended up with about 8-10 fish to the boat and our biggest at 4 1/2lbs.  It seems the top water bite in the Delta is slowly diminishing with the cooling weather.  There are of schools of shad all over the delta and the fall feed appears to be just around the corner so get ready for some exciting fishing to come over the next few weeks.
