Bass Tournament Future Pro Tour season opener Masters and Smith crush a 125 boat field

NAPA, Ca – Tim Masters and Scott Smith may not know much about wine making, but in last Saturday’s Coors Light Future Pro Tour season opener dubbed the “Grapes of Wrath” they put a “crush” on the field of 125 teams that participated, that would rival any wine press located in the Napa Valley.

And despite the deluge of wind and rain that covered anglers during check-in and blast off, Tim and Scott diligently worked areas most had overlooked, to bag a huge 5-fish limit weighing 29.70 pounds, which included a 12.70 pound monster caught on an A-Rig!

“She was not too far from the bank when she hit”, they explained to the crowd at the awards ceremony which was held after the event. She made some good runs and when we got her into the net we knew we had the tournament won”.

For their efforts they took home $2,550 dollars along with a special Big Fish trophy, dedicated to the memory of John Swearinger, a veteran FPT angler who passed away several weeks ago. Congratulations Tim and Scott on a job well done!

Coors light Silver Bullet Angler of the Year Race – It’s on…AGAIN!

Last year the Coors Light Silver Bullet Angler of the Year race was a back and forth, down-to-the wire battle between Stacy Gee/Rafael Ortiz, and Shane Pierson/Travis Ladner, two veteran teams of the FPT.

And though Stacy and Rafael ultimately won the war and captured the coveted 2013 title, the 2014 race is looking like it just may be a carbon copy of last year’s race, as Gee and Ortiz took 2nd place in this opening event, with Shane Pierson and Travis Ladner taking third, setting up a possible repeat showdown.

But we have a long way to go, before anything is settled, and the FPT sports a big field of great competitors, so as the saying goes..It ain’t over till it’s over!

Up next?….

The Future Pro Tour heads north April 19th to Folsom Lake for the “Capitol City Showdown” an event presented by Lucky Craft.

Yes…the five mile and hour restriction has been lifted and the lake water levels are rising fast, which simply means that BIG FISH action is right around the corner!

Don’t miss out!…get signed up early as this event traditionally sees the biggest bass – per angler, of any of the events we host, as well as one of the biggest fields!

See you all there!
