Future Pro Tour "CRUNCH Time" – for central valley anglers
Category : BASS TOURNAMENT NEWS
After this Saturday, The FPT’s central valley anglers will be just one event away from the close of the 2013 season, and for those seeking a berth into the Future Pro Tour Classic championship, this weekend’s event on the California delta could definitely be a wild card event that will make or break.
Anglers are gearing up for this event like none other as each team is focused on obtaining one of the only 25 berths allocated for central valley competitors in the Future Pro Tour Classic Championship, which will be held in early March of 2014 on Clear Lake.
A TOTAL field of only 75 teams (both regions combined) will qualify for this championship event, to compete for a new Ranger Z118, powered by Evinrude outboard, with Humminbird and Minn Kota electronics, expertly rigged by C&C marine, and valued at over $35,000.
Facing a dual challenge
With over 1000 miles of sloughs and levies to contend with, those familiar – and those not so familiar with this massive waterway system, will have their hands full trying to find areas that may not be infested with weekend boating traffic. Adding to this is the fact that at this time of year, delta bass are in various stages of the transition, with some still on spawning beds, and others in post-spawn phase, and there will be as many variations in water temperature and color as there are tulles and rip-rap banks.
To sum it up…FPT anglers in this event will have their work cut out for them.
Coors Light Angler of the year race
An all-out war is brewing in the inaugural Coors Light Angler of the Year race, as Mike and Victor Gomez lead the pack by a very narrow margin, with the teams of Zac Azevedo and Kyle DeKelva, along with last year’s Anglers of the Year Mike Barnard and Robert Riley nipping at their heels for the coveted title. Mike and Robert’s favorite water is the California delta so their confidence level and expectation for a command performance is extremely high and they would like nothing more than to become back-to-back winners of such a prestigious award.
Not too late to sign-up!
If you always wanted to participate in a FPT event to see what it’s all about….It’s not too late as we will be taking late signups the morning of the event beginning at 4am at Ladd’s Marina, where limited memberships of just $5 per angler will be available for those that want to “try us out” or can only fish one or a few FPT events.
So come on down and join us for an exciting event this weekend on the California delta, and let’s see which teams will come that much closer to making it to the big show next March!
See you all there!
