Lewis Smith Lake Bass Fishing Report – The spots and largemouth are schooling heavy
Category : BASS FISHING REPORTS, HAWK TALK
The water temps have started to drop over the past week on Lewis Smith Lake with the cooler weather and the spotted bass and largemouth are schooling heavy in certain parts of the lake. My clients and I are using an arsenal of baits to catch fish throughout the entire water column including topwater, spinbaits, swimbaits, and a dropshot rig. We’re catching our biggest fish on top on the DUO Realis Pencil 110 in the Neo Pearl color. One tip I have to increase your hook-up ratio throwing topwater is to use braided line for you main line with a monofilament leader. I like to join the two using a modified albright knot. Using braid will allow you to cast further and get more consistent hook-ups, especially at the very end of your cast.
The fishing is on track to be exceptional for the upcoming Smith Lake Park Bass Fest Tournament and Alabama Bass Trail Championship. I have days available to help you prepare for these events, so please contact me if you’re interested in booking a trip.
